Today I had the pleasure of talking with 89-year-old WWII veteran Ken Gabels for a portrait for upcoming September 11th stories. He has a great attitude on life. While looking through old war photos he exclaimed, "And this is the time I stole a watermelon!" and then laughed and laughed. Being able to sit down and talk to people one on one about their lives is one of the reasons I love doing portraits. "Next year I'll be 90. I'm happy. I have no dislike for anybody," said Gabels.

The Calm Above the Storm
I had to shoot a very heated school board meeting this evening addressing contract negotiations for a local teachers union. While shooting from a balcony trying to show that the room was coming close to maximum capacity, I found a little bit peace above the battle.
Just another day at the office.

Baseball Features
I have been pleasantly surprised with finding little features while shooting a sport that I usually find incredibly boring. Maybe the boredom does me some good as my curiosity for something more grows with every game.
